Leichhardt Council has received a grant of $250,000 to create a Living Street within the LGA .
The vision is ‘to create and implement a model for sustainable living within an urban street context focusing on infrastructure changes and environmental education.’

Living Streets Update - July 2011
The reaction to the yellow line marking carried out by council earlier this month has been positive.
Council has received the completed documentation from the consultants, Phillips Marler. A tender has been advertised for prices from suitable contractors and will be closing shortly. A reported to council for acceptance of the winning tender will be prepared and submitted for adoption. If adopted by council, the tenderer is envisaged to commence works in late September with an estimated construction period of 3 - 4 months.
September Update 2011
Council has revised the proposed tree species located in some strategic locations along Taylor Street. Please click on the link to a copy of the revised plan in PDF for your convenience.
Works are proposed to commence shortly with more positive feedback from the community about the project.
Final Plan for the Living Streets Project
Following additional community consultation, please find attached the final plan for the Living Streets Project. This version addresses the minor issues raised and proposes a great outcome for the street.
