Traffic Management
Council adopted a Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) Plan in 1999 to provide long term traffic management for each of the suburban areas of Leichhardt Local Government Area and Council's Traffic Section is responsible for implementing this adopted LATM Plan.
Council's Local Area Traffic Management Plan forms the basis for long term traffic management in the Leichhardt Local Government Area.
A key component of this Plan is the installation of traffic control devices to regulate, warn and guide road users. These devices include regulatory signs and road markings (eg stop signs, one way signs), pedestrian crossings and refuges, raised thresholds, roundabouts, kerb extensions and angled slow points.
Council has an organised and transparent review process for dealing with traffic related issues that have not been identified in the LATM Plan. All traffic management concerns and requests of this nature should be forwarded to Council's Infrastructure and Service Delivery Division - Traffic Section in writing detailing the reason the item is considered necessary. The item will then be investigated (eg. traffic data collection, etc.) and if a treatment is considered necessary, and if it meets the objectives of the LATM Plan, the request will be itemised in Council's ongoing LATM Plan review process and appropriately prioritised.
