There are four ways to keep update with Council's Sporting Ground Closures
1/. Website
2/. Wet Weather Line - 9367 9190
3/. Follow us on Twitter
4/. Signage - There are signs at all Leichhardt Council Sporting Grounds that reflect the current status

During periods of wet weather or when the grounds have been closed, the status is updated on a daily basis (by 10am for schools and by 3pm for evening training.)
For weekend use, the status is updated on a Friday afternoon by 4pm at the latest.
If rain occurs during the weekend, Council staff will update the status after ground inspections have been completed.
Clubs should monitor the status during this time. If it is raining and Council has NOT closed the fields - ALL calls should be directed to Sporting Clubs NOT to Council.
Schools and Commercial Fitness Trainers must also comply with ground closures.
Please note that all Council Sporting Grounds are closed on Mondays for rest, repair and maintenance (there are some ground used on Monday's in 2013 ONLY)
It is the hirer's responsibility to monitor the status of Council's open space areas by checking this website, calling the Wet Weather Line, following Council on Twitter or checking the signs at the Ground
Sporting Ground Terms and Conditions
Users risk fines and exclusion if found using Council's sporting grounds during periods of maintenance.
If the sporting grounds and parks are closed due to wet weather, they cannot be used until a further inspection is carried out by Council and they are re-opened.
Hirers DO NOT have the right to approve the use of the sporting grounds or parks contrary to Council's advice. The hirer will be responsible for any members of their group who disobey Council's advice and use the ground on a day of the booking when the area is closed. The hirer will also be responsible for all costs associated with any repairs to damage caused by illegal use.
Council reserves the right to cancel a booking at any time when a Sporting Ground is deemed unsuitable for play due to inclement weather, or a Park unsuitable for an event. Grounds may be closed at short notice.
The decision to close sporting grounds is based on a number of factors including:
- The type of sport to be played and the potential for damage to the playing surface
- The condition of the sporting ground at the time of inspection and its ability to recover from damage
- The potential for injury to participants (ie) Risk Management
- The type of events booked in Council's open space areas and the potential for damage
- The weather forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology
Hirers will not be charged for the hire when a park or sporting ground is closed by Council.
Seasonal/School Hirers will not be charged for the hire when a sporting ground is closed by Council.
If the hirer cancels a confirmed booking and Council has deemed the fields open the hirer will receive a refund of the hire fee minus a $50 administration fee.
