2-8 Weston Street

2-8 Weston St 3

2-8 Weston Street is Leichhardt Council's newest foreshore Park (opened on 1 August 2012) Council has invested over $15.8 million dollars on the development of this park which is located adjacent to the Darling Street Wharf at the gateway to Balmain.

Works have included repairs to the seawall, open space embellishment, landscaping works and the major restoration of the 1880’s Fenwick’s Stone Building.

In response to the outcomes of community consultation Council has confirmed that the adaptive reuse option for the 1880’s Fenwick’s Stone Building will be a commercial lease of a licensed café / refreshment facility with gallery space. It will be privately managed with provision made for functions including weddings, community and corporate events.
Prior to any expression of interest process, a development application will be lodged and determined to establish the future hours of operation, seating numbers and/or ancillary building or facilities to support the adaptive reuse of the building

Also prior to any expression of interest process being finalised additional works are still needed to be finished by Council are required to make the building fit for purpose. So Council will advertise when expressions of interest will be open. More information will be provided in 2014.
