Leichhardt Council runs SecondHand Saturday each year, a giant neighbourhood garage sale held in individual households.
SecondHand Saturday enables residents to participate in a program that promotes the value of resource conservation and reduced waste to landfill, whilst making a dollar or two and meeting their neighbours.
Thank you to all participating households for saving valuable resources from going to landfill!
Dates for SecondHand Saturday 2015
SecondHand Saturday is here!
- Balmain, Balmain East, Birchgrove - Saturday 14 March 2015
- Rozelle, Lilyfield - Saturday 18 April 2015
- Leichhardt, Annandale - Saturday 16 May 2015
You can now register for your local SecondHand Saturday event. Please note that you can only register for your official street address and suburb.
Residents will receive an information brochure in their letterbox approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the sale date for their suburb. Once you have registered for the SecondHand Saturday event your SecondHand Saturday poster will be posted to your letterbox approximately one week prior to your SecondHand Saturday event date.
You can also download the SecondHand Saturday Letterbox Poster (PDF 740.9KB).
Place this poster on your letterbox so shoppers know you are having a sale! Registered households (i.e. those holding a sale on the day) will be advertised in The Courier Tuesday issue. Your garage sale, i.e. street address, will be published on this website in the week of the SecondHand Saturday sale. Your sale items will appear on the website only, they will not appear in the newspaper advertisement. Happy SecondHand Saturday sale!
If you need to *cancel your SHS sale please download the SHS Cancellation Poster (PDF 82.5KB) and place up in a suitable location in your property.
PLEASE NOTE: Your General Household Collection dates remain the same as per your yearly waste & recycling calendar. Visit our Waste & Recycling section (see Collection Days) for details or phone Council’s Customer Service Centre for your calendar. Council’s SHS is held 3 times each year via suburbs and is aimed at reuse of items (as opposed to disposal). Therefore your General Household Collection date may NOT align with your SHS event date.
