Road Closures - Street Parties

Street Party Road ClosureLeichhardt Council encourages properly conducted neighbourhood street parties as a means of building community spirit and improving neighbourhood security. 
Residents wishing to conduct a community street party should in the first instance contact Leichhardt Council on 02 9392 5000 and ask to discuss the proposed event with Council’s Traffic Section before forwarding an application and applying for a Road Occupancy permit.  The applicant must the do the following:


For Street Party Application

For Temporary Road Closures relating to construction, maintenance or any other work related activity

  • Submit with Road Occupancy Permit application a Traffic Control Plan (TCP) prepared by a RMS accredited traffic control licensee/company
  • Pay the Road Occupancy Permit Fee of $1,540 (Fees & Charges 2017/18) (This amount includes $570 refundable deposit) The permit fee must be paid at the time of lodgement.

All the above documentation needs to be submitted at least six weeks in advance for approval by the Local Traffic Committee and Council.

Normal fees for a Road Occupancy Permit are waived for community events and non-profit organisations.
