Leichhardt Council acknowledges the Gadigal and Wangal people of the Eora nation as the traditional custodians of the land we stand on today and we pay respect to their elders both past and present; as well as all other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples who have made the Leichhardt Municipality their home. Prior to colonial settlement Aboriginal people lived around this area to gather food, provide shelter and to perform ceremonies consistent with linving in harmony with the land.
