Library Rules and Regulations

1. No smoking, eating or drinking is permitted in Council’s libraries.

2. No dogs or other animals may be brought into the Libraries with the exception of Guide Dogs

3. The Librarian in Charge has the right to ask people to leave the Library if they are creating a disturbance, in accordance with the NSW Library Act, 1939 and Regulations 2005.

4. Library Staff and members of the public are jointly responsible for ensuring that when using equipment safe operating procedures are maintained and in an emergency evacuation staff and the public will evacuate the building following the instruction of the Librarian in Charge.

5. Council facilities, such as telephones and staff toilets, shall not be used by the public except in times of emergency.

6. Children under the age of 7 must be supervised by a reasonable person who is 18 years or older. Supervision requires that the person be within sight of the child at all times. In accordance with NSW Library Act, 1939 and Regulations 2005: Division 2, Part 3 and Section 6 and The Children's Policy Guidelines: Leichhardt Library Service.

7. Use of Computer Services provided by Leichhardt Library Service will  be of use as outlined in the Policy of Acceptable use of PCs.

8. The restriction of a child’s access to the Internet is the responsibility of  the parent or guardian in accordance with Leichhardt Library service: Policy of Acceptable Use of PC and Internet Service s and The Internet Use Guidelines adopted by MPLA and CPLA in 2000.

9. When photocopying or printing material from resources provided by Leichhardt Library Service shall be in accordance with the Copyright Regulations which apply to published material in accordance with the Copyright Act, 1968 and Copyright Regulations, 1969.
