Leichhardt Library
Service
Leichhardt Library and Balmain Branch provide an accessible and technologically progressive library and technology gateway to information, recreational and life long learning resources to meet the needs of the community.
Membership
Membership is open to everyone and is free. Proof of current home address is required. Young people under the age of 18 also need the approval of a parent or guardian. You can join the library electronically from home by logging into our catalogue website http://210.9.33.125/auwebopac/
Borrowing
Your library card is needed each time you borrow. If it is LOST.html you will need to notify the library staff immediately. All Items may be borrowed for up to 3 weeks. All items can be renewed twice if they are not on hold for someone else. Renewals can be made on our web site in the ‘My Membership’ section, in person at the Circulation Desk or by phone during opening hours. When making a phone renewal, you will need to provide your borrower number. An After Hours Returns Chute is available at Leichhardt & Balmain Libraries 24 hours a day; you can activate the returns chute with eitheryour membership card or the library barcode on any item you are returning. You may reserve items and inter library loan books for a fee. You may borrow a maximum of 40 items from the library service.

· Children, Toy, Young Adult and HSC collections
· Paperbacks, magazines and newspapers
· Local History collection
· DVD, CD, CD Rom and Spoken Word collections
· Language and ESL collections
· Italian collection and the Home Library Service
· Local History is a specialist collection of historical and current material that relates to all aspects of the
Leichhardt local government area - the inner Sydney suburbs of Annandale, Balmain, Birchgrove, Leichhardt, Lilyfield and Rozelle.
· Internet and PC services are available at both libraries. Members may use these services to a maximum of 2 hours per day and may book a week in
advance. This service is popular so it is advisable to book a few days in advance.
· Wireless Internet Connectivity is available at both Leichhardt and Balmain Library.
· E Resources allow you to search newspapers, magazines and journal articles from around the World; also Encyclopaedias, Genealogy, Learning a
Language, Learning Computer software, Literature, History and Health databases. To gain access please log into our website at

· Our Toy collection allows children to experience a wide range of interactive educational toys during those
critical formative years before school.
· The Italian Collection reflects the culture of Leichhardt.
Preschool Story Time at the Libraries
These are free weekly activities:
· Baby Bounce & Rhyme Time For 0-2 years old Baby Bounce and Rhyme Time is an interactive way for parents and carers to introduce babies to the fun and
enjoyment of sharing nursery rhymes, action songs and simple percussion instruments.
· Wiggle and Jiggle For 2 to 3 years old Wiggle & Jiggle is step to the left from Baby Bounce! Movement and songs and stories.
· Story Time is for 3 to 5 years old comprising of Songs, Films and Craft Activities. Come along and join in the fun with your children. Meet new people and introduce your child to books.
· Rock< Paper < Scissors is a Children's Craft Club for 5 to 12 years old.

You can access the library catalogue from the Council’s website www.leichhardt.nsw.gov.au from here you select Library. You may search the library catalogue. Additionally you can log in this allows you to check your library membership including current and previous loans by clicking on the LOG IN tab.
