Leichhardt Library Exhibition Space Guidelines and application form

                 Welcome to Leichhardt Library Service

 The Exhibition Space is provided free by Leichhardt Council to encourage, stimulate and promote innovative and contemporary forms of art by local artists.

The Exhibition 

Priority is given to quality contemporary exhibitions with themes that are of relevance to the local community. Additional events accompanying the exhibitions such as workshops, launches, artists’ talks & seminars are encouraged. The space is often booked six or more months in advance. Generally the duration of the exhibition is four weeks however longer periods can be negotiated. There is a hanging system installed which requires that works be hung using ‘D’ rings & exhibitors will need to speak to staff regarding installation requirements. Only on completion of this form will the application to exhibit will be considered. All exhibitions must be approved by the Library Manager or the Director, Community and Information Services, Leichhardt Council. The library is a neutral open space and the contents of the any exhibition must be appropriate for a general public space being viewed by the general public.

The Exhibitor 

Exhibitors are responsible for all costs associated with the transporting of works to and from the library and staging the exhibition. You are responsible for your own tools, equipment, the installation and dismantling of the exhibition. All O H & S standards must be observed during the installation & dismantling of the exhibition. You are required to take full responsibility for any enquires and sales. There is a 10% commission fee on any work sold during the exhibition. Leichhardt Council provides public liability insurance for the library and its users however exhibitors are responsible for their own contents insurance. Exhibitors are responsible for costs associated with making good any damage to the Exhibition Space.
· All exhibitors must complete an application form
· The application forms must be returned to the Local History Librarian
· Exhibitors will provide a list of works including title, size and medium
· An introductory artistic statement to the exhibition must be provided
· Catalogues are welcomed
· Costs of organising and publishing catalogues is the responsibility of the exhibitor

Opening Functions 

Exhibitors are welcome to have an Opening Function to launch the  exhibition. The functions are held in the adjacent study area which has a limit of 60 people. All associated costs such as invitations, clean up, drinks & food services are the responsibility of the exhibitor. The Library will provide an RSVP service.
