Rozelle Hoardings Art Project

Rozelle Hoardings Art Project.jpg

Council is commissioning a mural for the site of the Rozelle fire to commemorate the tragic loss to the community of Rozelle last month.

We are inviting the community to participate in workshops to assist in developing a design for the hoardings in place at the site in Rozelle. A lead artist has been commissioned, Patrick O'Rourke for his exceptional skill and sensitive portraits, and Community Cultural Development worker Lyndall Graham will be co-facilitating the workshops with him.

Patrick and Lyndall will both guide and support the community in expressing itself through this mural as it moves towards the rebuild of the Rozelle community.

The workshops will commence on Saturday 25 October and will be held for the following three Saturdays. All workshops will be held at the Hannaford Centre, 608 Darling Street, Rozelle.

Workshop details:

  • Saturday 25 October - 2.30 - 4.30pm
  • Saturday 1 November - 2.30 - 4.30pm
  • Saturday 8 November - 2.30 - 4.30pm
  • Saturday 15 November - 2.30 - 4.30pm

What Do I Bring to the Workshops?

The artist Patrick has invited participants to bring items that show the spirit and nature of the Rozelle area to the workshops to help inspire ideas and creative content of the mural. For example, you could bring along family photos, keepsakes and other objects that you believe reflect the community of Rozelle. Patrick will also photograph these works, to use as reference material for the development of the overall design of the mural. All other materials will be supplied.

Please RSVP to  by Thursday 23 October  if you would like to participate in the design of this mural. There will also be the opportunity for participants to paint their design section of the mural as well.
