Leichhardt Council presents Leichhardt Fringe – its very own festival during Sydney Fringe, the largest independent arts festival in NSW.

Leichhardt Fringe features SubLiminal and Parramatta Road Goes POP - two extraordinary events featuring curated pop up art trails. Visit both sites to see exhibitions, art installations, live Street Art, and more.

Remaining Program for Leichhardt Fringe:

  • SubLiminal POP Up Arts Trail 
    Featuring works by Fiona Arnold and Friends, Blak Douglas, Digby Webster, Kirsty Collins, David Watson, Sue Callanan, Dave Wells, Edible Kids Gardens, Bernadette Smith, Rozelle Primary School.

  • Past, Present and Future - An exhibition of selected works for the Project Ugly Street Art Collection
    Exhibition runs from the opening on evening of the 16 - 27 September. OPEN daily 12- 6pm.
    (please note exhibition closed on the 17th September, and closing at 4pm on the 23rd September)

  • LIVE Art with EARS
    Saturday 19 + Sunday 20 Live Art
    (Weather permitting): 11 - 4pm
    Artist Ears will be painting live at the rear of the
    Marion Street Car Park, Leichhardt on both days.

    You can also see one of his earlier works from 2010 
    (pictured right) in the exhibition in the
    Leichhardt Town Hall.
       
    • LIVE Art with BIRDHAT - Saturday 26 + Sunday 27
      (Weather permitting): 11 - 4pm
      Artist Birdhat will be painting live at the rear of the Marion Street Car Park, Leichhardt  on both days. See one of his earlier works from 2010 in the exhibition in the Leichhardt Town Hall.

    • LIVE Art with FORCE - Saturday 26 + Sunday 27
      (Weather permitting): 11 - 4pm
      Young artist FORCE was the lucky emerging street artist chosen to painting live at the Project Ugly Billboard site. His team from the Ted Noffs Street University will be there selling their T-shirts, so get there quick as they sold like hot potatoes at the Leichhardt Fringe Opening Night.
      LOCATION is: 214 Albion Street (off Catherine Street), Leichhardt.

    • PARRAMATTA Road Goes POP Catalogue
      Don't miss the first run of Parramatta Road Goes POP.       The Parramatta Road Artist in Residence, Lyndal Irons, has taken up residence for the month of September at a shopfront located at 121 Parramatta Road, Annandale. Her body of photographic work, On Parramatta Road, is all about Parramatta Road, so she is keen to hear from all of those people that have memories and stories about this major transport artery. She'll be at her residency off and on during the month, so you are best to contact her to make a time to visit to tell her your tales of Parramatta Road.     Leichhardt’s Fringe is occurring at two locations:
     Subliminal    Parramatta Road Goes Pop
    Set against the backdrop of the elegant and aged Leichhardt Town Hall, the local seat of civic order, artists present another side to the seat of power.   Celebrate the history of movement,
    transportation and travel - of getting from
    A to B, on one of the continents oldest and most travelled human thoroughfares: Parramatta Road.

     

    Featuring:

    1. Project Ugly – Past, Present and Future –
     
    an exhibition of the best street art in Sydney

    2. Artist trail and Open Studio

    3. Live Street Art over two weekends

    4. And a visit from the Ted Noffs Street University

    Exhibition Opening -  Wednesday 16 September

    1. "Slow Art” Walking Trail

    2. An opportunity to visit the Parramatta Road Artist in Residence Lyndal Irons, to tell her your tales of “Parra Road.”

    3. The FAST Art Competition - an Art Competition for all ages and all skill levels.

    4. Leichhardt Fringe Closing Party and Fast Art Awards @ the Wayward Brewing Company on the 27 September

    The FAST Art Competition

It is a competition with multiple categories, is for all ages, and all skill levels. You can always sharpen up your "fast art" skills in readiness for the challenge to create an artwork in 24 hours or less.
