The Greenway

Greenway LogoThe GreenWay is an urban green corridor in Sydney's Inner West that runs from the Cooks River to Iron Cove following the route of the Rozelle to Dulwich Hill freight rail corridor currently being converted to a light rail passenger service. See more about the Light Rail.

The GreenWay provides an important off-road cycle and pedestrian route from Cooks River to Iron Cove Bridge and most importantly it is a vital part of the integrated transport project with the Inner West Light Rail.

The State Government recently announced that funding for the long-awaited GreenWay had been cut, stating budget and design problems.

Leichhardt Council is working with Marrickville, Canterbury and Ashfield Councils, the local communities and Friends of the Greenway to ensure the State Government understands the very strong support the Greenway enjoys across Sydney and the need to ensure that the Greenway plan is implemented in full.

A campaign is underway to see the GreenWay shared pathway completed as part of the light rail extension from Lilyfield to Dulwich Hill. Visit the Greenway website for further details
