Air Quality

Air Pollution

It is important to ensure that air quality is monitored to protect human health and the environment. Local air quality can be influenced by weather and regional events such as bushfires. Localised threats to our air quality include exhaust from vehicles and wood smoke from fireplaces and solid fuel heaters in the Leichhardt area.

A goal of Leichhardt Council's Environmental Sustainability Strategy is to effectively manage air pollution from stationary sources within the local government area. This goal will be achieved by enforcing regulations concerning emissions of pollutants and by providing information to the community on low emissions heating and pollution control options.
